Speaking of Death
March 7, 9, 14, 16 | 10 – 11:30 a.m.
also offered via Zoom
This course is a compact version of one of my favorite courses from my 25 years of teaching at Goshen College. It begins by exploring why we might fear death and then moves on to discuss the tradition of the “good death”. Next, we will reflect upon the rituals that help death be less disruptive to our lives, and, finally, we will consider what the living owe the dead with an emphasis upon private and public commemoration.
Jo-Ann Brant is professor emeritus of Bible, Religion, and Philosophy at Goshen College.
