Race, Wealth, and Power: How White People Accumulated Wealth and Power
The difference between white and Black wealth and power has been present since before the founding of the United States. Slavery was a financial institution and a farm labor prison production system. Jim Crow, redlining, mass incarceration, segregated neighborhoods and schools, interstate highways, urban renewal, and appraisal discrimination have kept the power and wealth imbalance in place.
Arden Shank is the former Executive Director of Lacasa in Goshen and the former CEO of Neighborhood Housing Services of South Florida in Miami.
Classes are held in the Jennings Auditorium at Greencroft Goshen Community Center.
