Elkhart County 4-H Fair – Celebrating a 150 years of 4-H and Agriculture

Taught by Fred Jessup, Shelly Steury and Kelly Ropp

February 8, 1:30-2:30 pm in the Jennings Auditorium, Greencroft Community Center

The presentation will focus on our 150th celebration of 4-H and agriculture. Our president will discuss what this year means to him and how his theme will be used around the fairgrounds. We will also talk about community involvement with our fair and year-round events. And lastly, we will give a brief history of how the fair started and where it is today.

Fred currently serves as the Elkhart County 4-H Fair President. He also serves as the director of the Tractor Pull held during the fair. His theme for the 2023 fair is Celebrating 150 years of 4-H & Agriculture. This theme is tied to his time spent as a 10-year 4Her and his farming profession.

Shelly currently serves as President-Elect of the Elkhart County 4H fair board and is also the General Manager of the fairgrounds. She serves on many committees that plan the fair and events as well as oversees the day-to-day operations of the fairgrounds.

Kelly serves as Secretary of the Board. She is the past fair president, holding that position in 2001. Kelly is also the history committee chair and served as a 4-H leader for 37 years.
