What makes for good storytelling? In the West, biblical themes of self-sacrifice and redemption inform many popular films. Films from other cultures can give us glimpses into different worldviews and the storytelling and cinematic conventions they give rise to. This course will look at a small selection of Chinese, Japanese, and Korean films.

Jo-Ann Brant is a  Professor Emeritus of Bible and Religion at Goshen College who has published a number of articles on film treatments of Jesus.
