Brueggemann, Lament, and My Hot Tub
“Everything is at stake when we don’t lament,” Brueggemann said for years. And that’s not all he said. Walt was known as a world-class scholar, authored some 125 published books, gave hundreds of lectures and interviews, and regretted that he was known as a “liberal” because that was not the way he understood himself. Personally, I’ve read more than a few Brueggemann’s books, taught courses at Eden Seminary when he was Dean, and we were friends in St Louis and again when we were both working in the Atlanta area.
