The Psychology of Religion

Duane Kauffmann

September 22, 24, 28, October 1; 10:00-11:30 am

Jennings Auditorium, Greencroft Goshen Community Center

We will explore the history of a range of issues on the frontiers of psychology as a scientific discipline, the beliefs and practices of religious faith, and the boundaries between science and religious practice. We will explore ways in which psychology and faith approach matters of self esteem, views of personal change such as conversion, personality, and conflicts; and insights from social psychology (leadership and group dynamics). Kauffmann has a Ph.D. in psychology, and brings to this study a full career of teaching and scholarship at Goshen College.
